Sporting 2-0 Spurs: Bad night for Tottenham as Sporting produce late goals
Sporting CP strolled past Tottenham Hotspur with a 2-0 win on Tuesday at Jose Alvalade. Both teams arrived on the back of wins. Sporting were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Spurs were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-0 win against Olympique de Marseille in their last match. Sporting and Spurs currently occupy 1st and 2nd spots in the table, with 6 points and 3 points respectively after 2 matches.
Following a goalless first half, Sporting piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Paulinho gave them the lead, 90 minutes in. Sporting then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Arthur Gomes just before the final whistle to give a final score of 2-0.
Substitutions for Sporting included Sotirios Alexandropoulos, Paulinho, Ricardo Esgaio and Arthur Gomes for Hidemasa Morita, Trincao, Nuno Santos and Marcus Edwards, respectively. Spurs brought on Dejan Kulusevski, to replace Heung Min Son.
There were bookings for Hidemasa Morita and Matheus Reis from Sporting. For Spurs, Rodrigo Bentancur, Emerson and Pierre Hojbjerg saw yellow.
