Marseille 1-2 Tottenham: The Lilywhites leave it late in France

Olympique de Marseille experienced a home defeat against Tottenham Hotspur at the Orange Velodrome on Tuesday. Marseille were hoping to get something from this game, following defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. Spurs were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Following the final whistle at the end of the last match of the Champions League season for both sides, Marseille are now in 4th place on the table and have 6 points while Spurs sit in 2nd with 8 points after 6 matches.

Marseille started the first half well, when Chancel Mbemba found the net just before half-time

Spurs staged a comeback in the second half, with a goal from Clement Lenglet on the 54 minute mark. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Pierre Hojbjerg just before the final whistle to give a final score of 2-1.

Substitutions for Marseille included Samuel Gigot, Sead Kolasinac, Cengiz Under, Issa Kabore and Luis Suarez for Eric Bailly, Samuel Gigot, Jordan Veretout, Jonathan Clauss and Valentin Rongier, respectively. Spurs replaced Yves Bissouma, Emerson, Oliver Skipp and Bryan Salvatierra with Heung Min Son, Ryan Sessegnon, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Moura.

There were bookings for Leonardo Balerdi from Marseille, and Clement Lenglet and Pierre Hojbjerg, for Spurs.
