Werder 1 – Hertha 0: Visitors leave the Wohninvest Weserstadion empty handed

Hertha on away loss to Werder at the Wohninvest Weserstadion on Friday. Werder were looking forward to playing again after losing 2-0 to SC Freiburg in their previous fixture. Hertha were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Schalke. Werder are now in 6th place, with 18 points from 12 matches, while Hertha sit in 13th, with 11 points from 12.

After an uneventful first half, The River Islanders piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Niclas Fullkrug just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Werder included Christian Gross, Jens Stage, Felix Agu and Oliver Burke for Leonardo Bittencourt, Ilia Gruev, Mitchell Weiser and Marvin Ducksch, respectively. Hertha replaced Stevan Jovetic, Wilfried Kanga, Suat Serdar, Marco Richter and Dodi Lukebakio for Jean-Paul Boetius, Davie Selke, Ivan Sunjic, Chidera Ejuke and Derry Lionel Scherhant.

There were bookings for Mitchell Weiser and Niklas Stark from Werder. For Hertha, Wilfried Kanga, Dodi Lukebakio and Suat Serdar saw yellow.

Werder next face Schalke while Hertha are at home to Bayern Munich.
