Schalke were held to 2-2 draw by Gladbach down on Saturday at the Veltins-Arena. Schalke arrived at the match looking pick up points after losing 3-1 to FC Köln in their previous fixture. Gladbach, on the other hand, were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-1 win against Hoffenheim in their last match. Following today’s result, Schalke and Gladbach are 14th, (1 point) and 3rd, (4 points), in the table respectively, after 2 matches.
Schalke started strongly in the first half, when Rodrigo Zalazar Martinez gave The Royal Blues the lead at the 29 minute mark to see out the first half 1-0.

Gladbach looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Marcus Thuram, 78 minutes in to establish a 2-1. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as Marius Bulter equalised for Schalke just before the final whistle and saw the match end 2-2.
Both managers used the full entitlement. Substitutions for Schalke included Jordan Larsson, Sebastian Polter, Florent Mollet and Danny Latza for Tobias Mohr, Simon Terodde, Rodrigo Zalazar Martinez and Alex Kral, repectively, Gladbach brought on Patrick Herrmann and Marvin Friedrich to replace Jonas Hofmann and Kouadio Kone.
