Leipzig 4-0 Bochum: The Red Bulls romp to big home victory

Leipzig suffered an away loss to RB Leipzig on Saturday at Red Bull Arena. Leipzig arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 3-0 to B Mönchengladbach in their last match. Bochum had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with FC Köln. Leipzig are now in 9th place, with 11 points from 8 matches, while Bochum sit in 18th, with 1 point from 8.

The Red Bulls didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, when Timo Werner opened the rout, 15 minutes in. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Christopher Nkunku in the 23rd minute, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

Leipzig started the second half with an intensified spirit, when Timo Werner found the net once more, at 53 minutes. Leipzig then netted again and increased their advantage thanks to a second effort from Christopher Nkunku just before the final whistle to give a final score of 4-0.

Substitutions for Leipzig included Benjamin Henrichs, Emil Forsberg, David Raum, Amadou Haidara and Hugo Novoa for Mohamed Simakan, Dominik Szoboszlai, Marcel Halstenberg, Xaver Schlager and Timo Werner, respectively. Bochum replaced Erhan Masovic, Kevin Stoger, Philipp Hofmann and Christopher Antwi-Adjej with Danilo Soares, Jacek Goralski, Simon Zoller and Jannes Horn.

The referee booked Danilo Soares and Jannes Horn for Bochum.

Leipzig will next travel to Mainz, while Bochum will face Eintracht Frankfurt at home.
