Mainz 1 – Hertha 1: Stalemate at the OPEL Arena against The Old Lady

Mainz were helde ach other to a 1-1 draw by Hertha on Friday at the OPEL Arena. Mainz were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 4-1 to Hoffenheim. Hertha had secured a point against Bayer Leverkusen in their previous match. Mainz are now in 6th place, with 11 points from 7 matches, while Hertha sit in 12th, with 6 points from 7.

Hertha started the first half well, when Lucas Tousart found the net, 30 minutes in, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Mainz took the initiative in the second half, when Anthony Caci found the net just before the final whistle. The match ended 1-1.

Substitutions for Mainz included Marlon Mustapha, Anthony Caci, Danny Da Costa, Aymen Barkok and Marcus Ingvartsen for Angelo Fulgini, Aaron Martin, Edimilson Fernandes, Stefan Bell and Marlon Mustapha, respectively. Hertha brought on Marton Dardai, Maximilian Mittelstadt, Vladimir Darida, Marco Richter and Peter Pekarik, to replace Marc Kempf, Marvin Plattenhardt, Dodi Lukebakio, Jean-Paul Boetius and Chidera Ejuke.

There were bookings for Dominik Kohr, Marlon Mustapha and Karim Onisiwo from Mainz, and Marvin Plattenhardt, Dodi Lukebakio, Marton Dardai, Jean-Paul Boetius and Oliver Christensen, for Hertha.

Mainz will next travel to SC Freiburg, while Hertha will face Hoffenheim at home.
