Wolfsburg’s 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, was hard fought at the Commerzbank Arena. Frankfurt were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games against RB Leipzig at home and Werder Bremen away, by 4-0 and 4-3 respectively. Wolfsburg had lost their previous match against FC Köln. Frankfurt are now in 11th place on the table and have 8 points while Wolfsburg sit in 15th with 5 points after 6 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Wolfsburg continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Maxence Lacroix gave them the lead on the 60 minute mark, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Frankfurt included Jesper Lindstrom, Lucas Alario and Faride Alidou for Daichi Kamada, Rafael Borre and Ansgar Knauff, respectively. Wolfsburg brought on Josuha Guilavogui, Omar Marmoush, Felix Nmecha and Yannick Gerhardt, to replace Bartol Franjic, Luca Waldschmidt, Mattias Svanberg and Josip Brekalo.

There were bookings for Djibril Sow and Tuta from Frankfurt. For Wolfsburg, Paulo Otavio, Mattias Svanberg, Lukas Nmecha and Maximilian Arnold saw yellow.
