Dortmund 1 – Schalke 0: Die Borussen triumph over The Royal Blues at the Signal Iduna Park

Borussia Dortmund banked all three points against the Schalke in a 1-0 victory on Saturday, at the Signal Iduna Park. Dortmund were looking to get back to winning ways after losing 3-0 to RB Leipzig in their last match. Schalke had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-1 victory against Bochum. Dortmund are now in 1st place, with 15 points from 7 matches, while Schalke sit in 14th, with 6 points from 7.

After an uneventful first half, Dortmund applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Youssoufa Moukoko found the net, at 78 minutes. When the final whistle blew, the result was 1-0 to Dortmund.

Substitutions for Dortmund included Giovanni Reyna, Karim Adeyemi, Youssoufa Moukoko, Emre Can and Thorgan Hazard for Marco Reus, Donyell Malen, Anthony Modeste, Julian Brandt and Giovanni Reyna, respectively. Schalke brought on Sebastian Polter, Kenan Karaman, Alex Kral and Rodrigo Zalazar Martinez, to replace Simon Terodde, Jordan Larsson, Marius Bulter and Tom Krauss.

There were bookings for Anthony Modeste, Karim Adeyemi and Emre Can from Dortmund, and Sepp Van den Berg and Simon Terodde, for Schalke.

Dortmund will next play FC Köln away, with Schalke facing Augsburg at home.
