Augsburg 1-1 Wolfsburg: The Wolves fail to hold onto advantage

On Saturday, Augsburg and Wolfsburg played out a 1-1 draw at the WWK Arena. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Augsburg were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games against Schalke away and Bayern Munich at home, by 3-2 and 1-0 respectively. Wolfsburg were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-2 victory against Stuttgart. Augsburg are now in 9th place, with 13 points from 9 matches, while Wolfsburg sit in 13th, with 9 points from 9.

The Wolves started the first half well, when Yannick Gerhardt gave them the lead, 27 minutes in, ending the first half 1-0.

Fuggerstädter started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Robert Gumny found the net, 55 minutes in. The match ended wih a 1-1 draw.

Substitutions for Augsburg included Mads Pedersen and Daniel Caligiuri for Ruben Vargas and Fredrik Jensen, respectively. Wolfsburg brought on Josuha Guilavogui, Lukas Nmecha and Kevin Paredes, to replace Jakub Kaminski, Omar Marmoush and Patrick Wimmer.

There were bookings for Maximilian Bauer, Carlos Gruezo, Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, Iago and Daniel Caligiuri from Augsburg, and Yannick Gerhardt, Paulo Otavio and Josuha Guilavogui, for Wolfsburg.

Augsburg will next play FC Köln away, with Wolfsburg facing B Mönchengladbach at home.
