Augsburg 1-2 Frankfurt: The Eagles back to winning form

Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2-1 win over Augsburg on Saturday, was hard fought at the WWK Arena. Both Augsburg and Frankfurt came from defeats in their previous league games. Augsburg arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 2-1 to Stuttgart. Frankfurt had lost their previous match against Borussia Dortmund. Augsburg are now in 13th place, with 14 points from 13 matches, while Frankfurt sit in 5th, with 23 points from 13.

Fuggerstädter started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Mergim Berisha in the 1st minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Sebastian Rode equalised for The Eagles, 13 minutes in, concluding the first half 1-1.

Frankfurt continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, with a goal from Ansgar Knauff, at 64 minutes, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Augsburg included Robert Gumny, Ruben Vargas, Felix Ohis Uduokhai and Reece Oxford for Arne Maier, Florian Niederlechner, Iago and Fredrik Jensen, respectively. Frankfurt brought on Ansgar Knauff, Hrvoje Smolcic, Rafael Borre, Faride Alidou and Lucas Alario, to replace Luca Pellegrini, Sebastian Rode, Jesper Lindstrom, Eric Ebimbe and Randal Kolo Muani.

The referee booked Evan N`Dicka for Frankfurt.

Augsburg will next travel to Union Berlin, while Frankfurt will face Hoffenheim at home.
