Sunday’s fixture between Newell’s and Racing delivered a goalless draw at Estadio Marcelo Bielsa. Newell’s wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with CA Platense in their previous game. Racing were coming off the back of a 1-0 win against Independiente. As the table looks today, Newell’s and Racing currently occupy 1st and 5th spots in the league, with 16 points and 14 points respectively after 8 matches.

Substitutions for Newell’s included Genaro Rossi, Fabian Angel, Juan Fernando Garro, Pablo Perez and Marco Campagnaro for Juan Manuel Garcia, Julian Fernandez, Francisco Agustin Gonzalez, Juan Sforza and Martin Luciano, repectively. Racing brought on Jonathan Galvan, Maximiliano Romero, Johan Carbonero, Edwin Cardona and Carlos Alcaraz, to replace Leonardo Sigali, Tomas Chancalay, Gabriel Hauche, Jonathan Gomez and Leonel Miranda.

There were bookings for Facundo Mansilla and Martin Luciano from Newell’s. For Racing, Enzo Copetti, Anibal Moreno, Emiliano Insua and Eugenio Mena saw yellow.

Newell’s will next travel to Rosario Central, while Racing will face Arsenal de Sarandi at home.
