Newell’s on home loss to CA Sarmiento at Estadio Marcelo Bielsa on Sunday. Newell’s were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games against Aldosivi away and Gimnasia La Plata at home, by 2-1 and 2-0 respectively.
After an uneventful first half, continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Jair Arismendi in the 58th minute. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for the visitors.
Both managers made full use of their substitutions. Substitutions for Newell’s included Francisco Agustin Gonzalez, Guillermo Balzi and Cristian Ferreira for Juan Fernando Garro, Martin Luciano and Djorkaeff Reascos, respectively.
