Huracán 3-2 River: Last minute strike settles five-goal thriller
Defensa and Justicia eased past River in a 3-2 victory on Monday at Estadio Tomas Adolfo Duco. Both Huracán and River arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Huracán were looking to pick up points after winning last match. River were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Lanús and Unión Santa Fe. After today’s result, Huracán are in 4th place in the table and have 11 points while River sit in 12th with 8 points after 6 matches.
Huracán found the net first, thanks to a goal from Jonathan Galvan at the 37 minute mark, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.
Huracán continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Franco Cristaldo at the 63 minute mark. However, River weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Leandro Gonzalez Pirez in the 69th minute. However, Huracán increased their lead with another Franco Cristaldo goal at the 72 minute mark to make it 3-1. River in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Julian Alvarez. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 3-2 to Huracán.
Substitutions for Huracán included Gabriel Gudino, Santiago Moya, Rodrigo Cabral, Guillermo Benitez and Enzo Luna for Juan Carlos Gauto, Jonathan Galvan, Benjamin Garre, Santiago Hezze and Matias Coccaro, repectively. River brought on David Martinez, Ezequiel Barco, Jose Paradela and Julian Alvarez, to replace Juan Quintero, Santiago Simon, Tomas Pochettino and Lucas Beltran.
The referee booked Federico Fattori and Guillermo Soto from Huracán. River had the worst of it though, with Bruno Zuculini and Tomas Pochettino seeing yellow, and Jonatan Maidana then sent off with a red.
Huracán will next play Lanús away, with River facing Godoy Cruz at home.
