Defensa and Justicia 3-3 Racing: Points shared in six-goal thriller

On Thursday, Defensa and Justicia and Racing played out a 3-3 draw at Estadio Norberto Tomaghello. Defensa and Justicia arrived with the intention of improving their league position after a scoreless draw against CA Platense in their previous match while Racing were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Rosario Central and Unión Santa Fe. Defensa and Justicia are now in 16th place on the table and have 29 points while Racing sit in 3rd with 40 points after 23 matches.

Racing started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with a goal from Matias Rojas, 19 minutes in. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Kevin Gutierrez, 22 minutes in brought Defensa and Justicia level. The momentum was again with Defensa and Justicia, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Gabriel Alanis, 27 minutes in to establish a 2-1 result. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Emiliano Vecchio equalised for Racing just before half-time, which saw the first half end 2-2.

Defensa and Justicia fought back the second half, thanks to a goal from Gaston Togni, 75 minutes in. In the end though, their lead was short-lived, as Anibal Moreno equalised for Racing just before the full time. The match ended wih a 3-3 draw.

Substitutions for Defensa and Justicia included Nicolas Zalazar, Fabricio Dominguez and Lucas Albertengo for Manuel Duarte, Nicolas Fernandez and Gabriel Alanis, respectively. Racing brought on Nicolas Oroz and Maximiliano Romero for Matias Rojas and Leonel Miranda.

There were bookings for Julian Lopez and Gaston Togni from Defensa and Justicia. For Racing, Jonathan Galvan and Anibal Moreno saw yellow.

Defensa and Justicia will next play Rosario Central away, with Racing facing Atlético Tucumán at home.
