Gamers are spoilt for choice as they search for the best young players in FIFA 22.

There are the obvious picks like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe, players who can still be categorised as ‘young’ but have ascended past the status of being among the FIFA 22 future stars.

Similar goes for Jadon Sancho off the back of his mega-money move to Manchester United. There are great young players, and then there’s players who are already great regardless of their age.

As we dove into FIFA 22’s best young players, we looked at a tier below those already established alongside the world’s greats. We’re looking at those with potential, even if they’re already integral at big clubs.

Here are our top 10 future stars in FIFA 22.

Ansu Fati

18 years old and with a 78 overall, Ansu Fati is clearly destined for greatness. The La Masia product has a 90 overall potential according to SoFIFA.

The injury prone trait could be a concern if you’re splashing your career mode budget on Fati, but the Spaniard is well worth the risk.

He’s lightning fast, starts off with elite agility and will soon develop into a lethal finisher. Prying him from Barcelona won’t be easy, though. The €74.8M is a high price to pay.

Mason Greenwood

Sharing a 90 potential with Fati, Mason Greenwood is arguably the best young striker in the world (if we exclude Haaland and Mbappe as we have for this exercise).

Don’t be fooled by Greenwood being listed as a right midfielder on FIFA 22. He’s at his best as a centre forward, with his high finishing rating and useful outside of the foot and finesse shot traits.

Manchester United are unlikely to let their prized youngster leave. Landing him for your save will take a mammoth fee, and even after such an offer, the Old Trafford club might reject your advances.

Pedri

Okay, the €124.2M could be off-putting. Pedri, though, is ready to dominate from day one in Career Mode. The Spanish international starts off as an 81, with superb dribbling and passing attributes and passable defence.

Pedri has a 91 potential, and the flair trait to help with creativity in the final third.

Away from Career Mode, Pedri has proved popular in Ultimate Team too, and he could yet be in line for a FIFA 22 Future Stars card.

Florian Wirtz

Just 18 years old, Florian Wirtz is the latest teenage talent lighting up the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. Wirtz is following in the footsteps of Kai Havertz, and has even won Bundesliga Player of the Month in 2021-22.

Starting off at number 10 with a 90 potential, Career Mode managers can mould him into whatever role they fancy. Perhaps he’s got a future as your false nine. Maybe he can become a Xavi-esque deeper midfielder with some work defensively.

Wirtz is an immense talent – he was a lock to make this list of the best young players in FIFA 22.

Ryan Gravenberch

Regular FIFA 22 players will see a lot of Ryan Gravenberch. The Ajax teenager has a brilliant Road To The Knockouts card in Ultimate Team, and he’s become an incredibly popular target for Career Mode managers, too.

With four-star on weak foot and skill moves, Gravenberch has the foundations of a great attacking midfielder. With good size and strength, though, Gravenberch’s potential is best reached in a box-to-box midfield role.

If Leon Goretzka is unattainable, Gravenberch is your man.

Antony

One of the older players to feature among our FIFA 22 future stars, Ajax’s Antony is 21 years old, but that shouldn’t distract from the 89 potential, electric pace and five-star skill moves.

The Brazilian is a readymade winger for most Career Mode saves. If you’re at a Champions League club, perhaps he comes in as a backup initially, though it won’t take long for Antony to earn a starting spot with his tendency to leave defenders in knots.

The finishing and shot power attributes need a bit of work. Both should grow naturally as he develops, however.

Jude Bellingham

Maybe an 89 potential is a bit harsh for Jude Bellingham. Still only 18, Bellingham has put in some dominant performances in the Champions League, which leads to his current overall of 80.

The former Birmingham City midfielder is the perfect FIFA 22 future stars partner for Ryan Gravenberch. While the Ajax man leans attack, Bellingham is more comfortable in a deep-lying role, making occasional forward runs.

The high and high work rates are a nice bonus, plus the four-star mark on weak foot and skill moves. The €84.6M release cause is a bargain.

Youssoufa Moukoko

Starting in Career Mode with a €10.3M release clause and an overall around the 70 mark, Youssoufa Moukoko is more of a project than the others listed here.

Already boasting solid dribbling and finishing numbers, though, Moukoko is mobile and can become a lethal centre forward with an 89 potential.

He’s the perfect acquisition for a Career Mode save at a smaller club – he’ll be worth five or six times that release clause within a couple of seasons.

Jamal Musiala

Once again, signing Jamal Musiala is tricky. He’s got a release clause around the £40 million mark, and the teenager is at Bayern. The Bavarian superclub will be reluctant to part ways with such a talent.

The 88 potential is just part of Musiala’s upside. His dribbling, balance and agility attributes show he’s already an elite ball carrier and can maze his way past even the best defenders.

With a bit of development, Musiala can slot in anywhere in the final third, though his lack of pace might make him best as a 10.

Nuno Mendes

A very select group of left-backs have 87+ potential. Nuno Mendes joins Alphonso Davies and Theo Hernandez in that elite club.

Mendes has been in and out of the PSG team this season after a loan move from Sporting. Career Mode managers need to wait a season or two to be able to sign the Portuguese phenom, but it’s well worth exercising a bit of patience.

His attacking ability is already excellent. With time, the defence will become elite, too.
