Leeds 4-3 Bournemouth: The Whites fight back from 3-1 to land victory
Leeds United beat Bournemouth with a 4-3 victory on Saturday at Elland Road. Leeds were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning last match. Bournemouth were beaten 3-2 in their previous match against Tottenham Hotspur. Leeds and Bournemouth currently occupy 15th and 14th spots in the league, with 12 points and 13 points respectively after 15 matches.
It was an impressive opening from Leeds, with an early penalty goal from Rodrigo Moreno in the 3rd minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Marcus Tavernier producing an equaliser in the 7th minute, bringing The Cherries level. However they weren’t finished yet and Philip Billing made it 2-1, 19 minutes in, which saw the first half end 2-1.
Bournemouth staged a comeback in the second half, with an early goal from Dominic Solanke in the 48th minute. However, Leeds refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Sam Greenwood in the 60th minute. The Whites looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Liam Cooper, at 68 minutes to establish a 3-3. However they weren’t finished yet and Crysencio Summerville made it 4-3, 84 minutes in to give a final score of 4-3.
Substitutions for Leeds included Degnand Wilfried Gnonto, Sam Greenwood, Joe Gelhardt and Luke Ayling for Jack Harrison, Marc Roca, Rodrigo Moreno and Brendan Aaronson, respectively. Bournemouth brought on Jack Stacey, Joe Rothwell and Junior Stanislas for Ryan Fredericks, Marcos Senesi and Philip Billing.
There were bookings for Rasmus Kristensen and Joe Gelhardt from Leeds, and Jefferson Lerma and Chris Mepham, for Bournemouth.
Leeds will play their next game away against Tottenham Hotspur, while Bournemouth will face Everton at home.
