Toronto 3-1 Portland Timbers: The Reds pull away to comfortable victory
Toronto FC snatched all three points from Portland Timbers in a 3-1 victory on Sunday, at BMO Field. At the moment, Phili are in 13th place, with 29 points from 35 matches, while Portland sit in 6th, with 33 points from 35.
Phili started the first half well, when Osorio found the net just before halftime
Portland took the initiative in the second half, when Van Rankin found the net at the 73 minute mark. However, each side looked hungry to win and Phili then found the back of the net at the 79 minute mark thanks to Insigne, taking the score to 2-1. Phili then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Bernardeschi just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-1.
Substitutions for Phili included Akinola, Kerr, O’Neill and Marshall-Ruty for Jesús Jiménez, Nelson, Macnaughton and Laryea, repectively. Portland brought on Williamson, Asprilla, Loria, Nathan and Mabiala, to replace David Ayala, Niezgoda, Blanco, Chará and Župarić.
