Seattle 1 – MON 2: Visitors ecstatic after win at CenturyLink Field
Montréal defeated Seattle Sounders 2-1 on Thursday at CenturyLink Field. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Seattle had been hopeful of continuing their run after winning last match. MON were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Charlotte FC. As things stand, Seattle are in 7th place, with 23 points from 24 matches, while MON sit in 2nd, with 29 points from 24.
Seattle dominated the first half, with an early goal from Morris in the 3rd minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Toye equalised for MON, 18 minutes in to see out the first half 1-1.
MON continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Toye found the net again, at 62 minutes, leaving the final score at 2-1.
Substitutions for Seattle included Leo Chú and Medranda for Montero and Rowe, repectively. MON brought on Brault-Guillard, Quioto, Piette, Thorkelsson and Torres, to replace Lappalainen, Toye, Miljevic, Koné and Kamara.
There were bookings for Rowe and Ragen from Seattle. For MON, Wanyama and Quioto saw yellow.
