A Champions League calibre midfielder and England international at just 18 years of age, Jude Bellingham is destined for a great career.

Jude Bellingham transfer news is going to be a topic for the next decade plus – players of his talent and age are a rare find even for the world’s richest clubs.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Jude Bellingham wage is going to skyrocket in the coming years. His stock is only increasing.

It can border on the patronising to say he is outgrowing Borussia Dortmund, but such a situation is a real possibility in the coming years with Die Schwarzgelben showing no signs of closing the gap to Bayern Munich domestically.

Erling Haaland’s likely summer transfer isn’t going to help matters either.

Bellingham’s future will be a hot topic. Column inches, Twitter threads and podcasts will be devoted to where the Stourbridge native ends up.

He’s that level of player that can help turn a team from top four contender to league winner. The sky really is the limit.

Jude Bellingham Wage

According to Salary Sport, Jude Bellingham earns around £50,000 per week. While that’s a hefty sum for anyone (let alone an 18-year-old), Bellingham is a long way off the earnings of many of his peers in the Premier League.

A return to England seems the most likely outcome if/when Bellingham leaves Borussia Dortmund, and he will be eyeing up a contract similar to that of his former teammate, Jadon Sancho.

Sancho is the league’s fourth-highest earner at £350,000 per week. Jack Grealish, a colleague of Bellingham for England, is on £300,000 at Manchester City.

Bellingham Sancho

These are the figures Jude Bellingham wage will hit should he make the decision to leave Dortmund. It should be a bidding war of epic proportions between the world’s wealthiest clubs, and Bellingham is in prime position to capitalise financially.

To give some context to how low Bellingham’s salary is compared to his peers, Mason Mount is on almost double and could get a considerable pay rise himself.

Kai Havertz earns thrice what Bellingham does. Bellingham is on less per week than Tyrone Mings, Ollie Watkins, Takumi Minamino, Oriol Romeu and countless others. His next contract could be almost 10 times his current one.

Transfer Rumours

Jude Bellingham has been linked with both Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea. Liverpool and Manchester United have perhaps had the weightiest reports, while there have been murmurings of interest from other countries, too.

Like Sancho, though, a return to England for the riches of the Premier League seems to make the most sense for Bellingham.

In late April, a report broke that Dortmund are refusing to sell Bellingham this summer.

This could be a negotiating tactic, of course, or it could be another sign that Dortmund are not keen on selling two key players in the same window (with Haaland expected to depart before the start of the 2022-23 campaign).

Manchester United were reportedly pushing to sign Bellingham before he opted to join Dortmund. That decision has aged well amid further turmoil at Old Trafford.

Bellingham has flourished with opportunity and comparative stability at the Westfalenstadion. Does that call from Bellingham and those close to him mean they would turn down United again?

Things have changed at Old Trafford, of course. Ed Woodward has gone, and Erik ten Haag can present a project unlike that of previous managers.

Sancho’s presence could be seen as a friendly face for Bellingham, but his difficult first season in the red half of Manchester could just as easily prove to be a deterrent for the former Birmingham City midfielder.

It’s hard to see why a player would choose United over Manchester City at the moment, providing City’s interest in Bellingham is serious.

The competition for midfield places is fiercer, but the career trajectory of players under Pep Guardiola is light years away from the down swing many find themselves on after moving to Old Trafford.

Guardiola has shown with Phil Foden how he can integrate and develop elite young talents. Foden has been used in different roles, impressing in all of them. Just imagine Bellingham, with his diverse skill set, in similar conditions.

There is obviously a question mark over everything to do with Chelsea right now. A new ownership group is on the way, but it’s unclear how much that will impact their transfer dealings.

While the defence will get the majority of the attention once they can make deals, it’s no secret that the Blues have long-term questions about their midfield.

There is a clear void for Bellingham to fill. He would be an immediate starter in west London with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho nearing the end of their deals.

The unknown, though, is whether Chelsea’s new owners would be willing to sign off on a deal involving the finances that a Bellingham transfer would.

If we read into the rumour mill, Liverpool look to have the best shot at signing Bellingham. There have been murmurs that they have already approached Dortmund about his availability, and there was some discussion in 2021 that Bellingham knew he was set for Anfield.

There is certainly the space for him in the midfield alongside Fabinho. Bellingham would be an ideal fit to play as one of the eights next to the Brazilian defensive midfielder, and he could even cover in the deep-lying role on occasion.

It would be a massive expenditure for the club, though, and might require considerable sales.

Gareth Southgate on Jude Bellingham

Gareth Southgate spoke about the potential of Bellingham moving to the Premier League in the March international break.

The England manager said, “The league is definitely a brilliant league for young players and coaches to develop but of course the standard of the Premier League is undoubtedly higher, I think we see that in the European competitions,” the England manager said.

“Our top teams are going to be right at the end of the Champions League every year, the financial power of our league is blowing everyone else out of the water so our big teams are going to be the main players in those competitions as they have been in the last years really.”

Southgate also touched on Bellingham’s development for club and country.

“But he is very coachable, wants to learn and is highly motivated. He is already getting brilliant experiences with club and European football already so he’ll be involved in the game and it will be good to see how he does.

“He is developing exceptionally well for a player of his age. He is being asked to play in a number of different positions this year.

“Dortmund have played 3-4-3 where he has been one of the double pivots, 4-3-3 where he plays as one of the 8s and a diamond where he has played on the outside of a diamond. He has different tactical challenges to deal with. The team have been a bit inconsistent.”
