Auxerre 0-2 Marseille: The Phocaeans make it four wins in a row with victory at Auxerre

Auxerre on Saturday lost to Olympique de Marseille on a home defeat at Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps. Auxerre were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 2-1 to Lyon whilst Marseille were coming from consecutive wins against Clermont Foot and Nice. Auxerre are now in 9th place on the table and have 7 points while Marseille sit in 1st with 16 points after 6 matches.

Marseille started strongly in the first half, thanks to a goal from Gerson early in the first half, finishing the first half 1-0.

The Phocaeans continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Alexis Sanchez found the net, 84 minutes in, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Auxerre included Mbaye Niang, Gaetan Perrin, Lassine Sinayoko and Youssouf M’Changama for Rayan Raveloson, Mathias Autret, Gauthier Hein and Nuno Da Costa, respectively. Marseille brought on Nuno Tavares, Alexis Sanchez, Matteo Guendouzi, Pape Alassane Gueye and Amine Harit, to replace Jonathan Clauss, Cengiz Under, Gerson, Issa Kabore and Luis Suarez.

There were bookings for Jubal from Auxerre, and Amine Harit, for Marseille.

Auxerre will next travel to Rennes, while Marseille will face Lille at home.
