Monaco 2-4 Troyes: Visitors stun the Monégasques at the Stade Louis II

Monaco were defeated at home by Troyes at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday. Monaco were looking for a victory following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Paris Saint-Germain in their previous game. Troyes, meanwhile, were coming off the back of a 3-1 win against Angers SCO. Monaco and Troyes are 14th, (5 points) and 10th, (6 points), spots respectively, after 5 matches.

The Monégasques started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with a goal from Guillermo Maripan, 10 minutes in. Troyes then went on to level the score at 1-1 in the 22nd minute, thanks to a goal from Florian Tardieu. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Wilson Odobert just before half-time, which saw the first half end 2-1.

Troyes started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Mama Balde in the 48th minute. However, Monaco refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Youssouf Fofana, 63 minutes in. Troyes in turn, then responded, 78 minutes in, grabbing the lead with an effort from Yoann Salmier, seing the match finish 4-2.

Substitutions for Monaco included Ruben Aguilar, Benoit Badiashile, Aleksandr Golovin, Krepin Diatta and Jean Lucas for Vanderson, Malang Sarr, Takumi Minamino, Wissam Ben Yedder and Mohamed Camara, respectively. Troyes brought on Yasser Larouci, Rony Lopes, Ike Ugbo, Xavier Chavalerin and Tristan Dingome, to replace Pape Ndiaga Yade, Renaud Ripart, Mama Balde, Wilson Odobert and Florian Tardieu.

The referee booked four players. Guillermo Maripan and Ruben Aguilar from Monaco, who saw yellow cards and Guillermo Maripan (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for Troyes Erik Palmer-Brown also seeing yellows.

Monaco will next travel to Nice, while Troyes will face Rennes at home.
