Tigres UANL defeated Atlas 2-0 on Sunday at Estadio Universitario (uanl). Both Tigres and ATL arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Tigres were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Tijuana at home (1-0), the other to Mazatlán away (1-0). ATL were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-2 victory against Cruz Azul. After today’s result, Tigres are in 6th place, with 6 points from 4 matches, while ATL sit in 10th, with 4 points from 4.

Los Tigres started strongly in the first half, when Anderson Santamaria found the net in the 40th minute. Tigres then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Andre Pierre Gignac just before halftime, concluding the first half 2-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 2-0.

Substitutions for Tigres included Jordy Caicedo, Eduardo Tercero, Rafael Carioca and Yeferson Soteldo for Juan Vigon, Raymundo Fulgencio, Luis Quinones and Sebastian Cordova, repectively.
