Santos 1 – Chivas 1: Victory elusive at Estadio Tsm Corona for both sides

On Sunday, Santos and Chivas were held to a 1-1 draw at Estadio Tsm Corona. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Santos were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last match 1-0 to Puebla. Chivas, on the other hand, lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Atl. San Luis. Following today’s result, Santos are currently 9th with 3 points from 3 matches, while Chivas sit in 15th, with 1 point from 3.

Chivas started strongly in the first half, when Jose De Jesus Gonzalez Munoz gave Las Chivas the lead just before halftime, ending the first half 1-0.

Santos took the lead in the second half, thanks to a goal from Eduardo Aguirre in the 70th minute, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Santos included Jordan Carrillo, Leonardo Suarez, Felix Torres, Eduardo Aguirre and Carlos Orrantia for Alan Cervantes, Juan Brunetta, Franco Pizzichillo, Javier Correa and Jair Gonzalez, repectively. Chivas replaced Cristian Calderon, Jose De Jesus Gonzalez Munoz, Fernando Beltran, Carlos Cisneros and Roberto Alvarado for Miguel Ponce, Angel Zaldívar, Alan Torres, Alan Mozo and Isaac Brizuela.

The referee booked Franco Pizzichillo, Hugo Rodriguez and Fernando Gorriaran from Santos. Chivas had the worst of it though, with Luis Olivas, Cristian Calderon, Jesus Orozco, Gilberto Sepulveda, Miguel Jimenez and António Briseno seeing yellow, and António Briseno (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Santos will next play Deportivo Toluca away, with Chivas facing León at home.
