Pumas’ 1-0 win over Necaxa on Sunday, was hard fought at Estadio Olimpico Universitario. UNAM were looking for a victory following a disappointing 3-3 draw with León in their previous game while Necaxa were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-1 win against Querétaro in their last match. As it stands, UNAM and Necaxa currently occupy 14th and 13th spots in the table, with 2 points and 3 points respectively after 3 matches.

UNAM scored first, when Adrian Aldrete found the net, 18 minutes in, to take a 1-0 lead into half time. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for UNAM included Cesar Huerta, Santiago Trigos Nava, Marco Garcia and Jero Rodriguez for Higor Meritao, Gustavo Del Prete, Leonel Lopez and Eduardo Salvio, repectively. Necaxa replaced Heriberto Jurado, Facundo Batista and Ulises Cardono with Bryan Garnica, Dieter Villalpando and Edgar Mendez.

There were bookings for Higor Meritao from UNAM. For Necaxa, Milton Gimenez, Dieter Villalpando and Ulises Cardono saw yellow.

UNAM will next play Pachuca away, with Necaxa facing Juárez at home.
