UNAM suffered a home defeat to América on Sunday at Estadio Olimpico Universitario. UNAM wanted to continue adding points following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Monterrey in their previous game. AME were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Juárez. As the table looks today, UNAM and AME currently occupy 12th and 9th spots in the table, with 8 points and 10 points respectively after 8 matches.

AME didn’t take long to start the rout, when Diego Valdes opened the rout in the 38th minute to see out the first half 1-0.

The Eagles continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Jonathan Rodriguez found the net, at 57 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Alex Zendejas made it 3-0 at the 78 minute mark to make it 3-0.

Substitutions for UNAM included Leonel Lopez, Jero Rodriguez and Diogo de Oliveira for Cesar Huerta, Adrian Aldrete and Juan Dinenno, repectively. AME brought on Bruno Valdez, Pedro Aquino, Miguel Layun and Jonathan Dos Santos, to replace Sebastian Caceres, Alvaro Fidalgo, Jonathan Rodriguez and Richard Sanchez.

The referee booked Nicolas Freire and Leonel Lopez for UNAM.

AME and UNAM will next play away to Pachuca and Atl. San Luis respectively.
