León 4 – ATL 2: Los Panzas Verdes enjoy the home win and all 3 points

León strolled past Atlas with a 4-2 win on Monday at Estadio Leon. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. León were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Pachuca. ATL were beaten 3-1 in the previous match against Pachuca. Following today’s result, León are in 12th place in the table and have 12 points while ATL sit in 15th with 9 points after 11 matches.

León started strongly in the first half, when Paul Bellon Saracho found the net, 40 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Julio Furch equalised for ATL just before halftime, which brought Diego Cocca’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break

Los Panzas Verdes started the second half with renewed vigour, with an early goal from Lucas Di Yorio in the 48th minute. León looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Federico Martinez at the 68 minute mark to establish a 3-1. Los Zorros in turn, then responded just before the final whistle increasing their lead with an effort from Julian Quinones and saw the match end 4-2.

Substitutions for León included Joel Campbell, Yairo Moreno, Victor Davila, Javier Ibarra and Jorge Diaz for Luis Montes, Elías Hernandez, Federico Martinez, Angel Mena and Jose Rodriguez, repectively. ATL brought on Diego Zaragoza, Brayan Trejo, Edison Flores and Jesus Ocejo for Jonathan Herrera, Emanuel Aguilera, Anibal Chala and Julio Furch.

There were bookings for Paul Bellon Saracho from León, and Jonathan Herrera, for ATL.

León will next travel to Necaxa, while ATL will face Necaxa at home.
