Toluca 2 – Santos 1: Home fans rewarded with victory at Estadio Nemesio Diez

Toluca enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Santos Laguna at Estadio Nemesio Diez on Sunday. Toluca were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to América. Santos secured a point against Guadalajara in their previous match. As things stand, Toluca are currently 4th with 6 points from 4 matches, while Santos sit in 10th, with 4 points from 4.

Toluca started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Leonardo Fernandez found the net, at 11 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Jordan Sierra made it 2-0, 25 minutes in, finishing the first half 2-0.

Santos took the initiative in the second half, thanks to a goal from Hugo Rodriguez, 76 minutes in, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Toluca included Carlos Gonzales, Sebastian Saucedo, Haret Ortega, Alan Rodriguez and Aldo Llanas for Camilo Da Silva, Jean Meneses, Fernando Navarro, Leonardo Fernandez and Marcel Ruiz, repectively. Santos brought on Alan Cervantes, Jair Gonzalez, Leonardo Suarez, Jordan Carrillo and Javier Correa, to replace Felix Torres, Franco Pizzichillo, Ronaldo Prieto, Harold Preciado and Juan Brunetta.

There were bookings for Marcel Ruiz and Brayan Angulo from Toluca. For Santos, Hugo Rodriguez, Doria and Javier Correa saw yellow.

Santos and Toluca will next play away to América and León respectively.
