Tijuana strolled past Atlas with a 2-1 win on Wednesday at Estadio Jalisco. ATL were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last match 2-0 to Tigres UANL. Xolos were able to continue their winning streak after a 2-0 win against América in their last match. As it stands, both teams are on 4 points and sit in 14th and 13th places respectively after 5 matches.

ATL started strongly in the first half, when Hugo Nervo found the net after only 6 minutes. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Lucas Rodriguez at the 40 minute mark brought Xolos level. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Renato Ibarra just before halftime. The first half ended 2-1. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 2-1 at full time.

Substitutions for ATL included Anibal Chala, Angel Marquez, Diego Zaragoza, Julio Furch and Brayan Trejo for Jonathan Herrera, Edgar Zaldivar, Jose Abella, Jesus Ocejo and Emanuel Aguilera, repectively. Xolos brought on Renato Ibarra, Christian Rivera and Jair Diaz, to replace Franco Di Santo, Joaquin Montecinos and Lucas Rodriguez.

The referee booked Diego Zaragoza and Luis Reyes from ATL. Xolos had the worst of it though, with Víctor Guzman, Jonathan Orozco, Jose Vazquez and Nicolas Diaz seeing yellow, and Nicolas Diaz (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

ATL will next travel to Santos Laguna, while Xolos will face Mazatlán at home.
