Plymouth 3-0 Accrington Stanley: Pilgrims on top at Home Park

Accrington Stanley on away loss to Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Saturday. Both Plymouth Argyle and Accrington Stanley arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Plymouth Argyle were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning their previous two matches in the league. The most recent was against the Wycombe Wanderers away (1-0), the other to Ipswich Town at home (2-1). Accrington Stanley were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Morecambe FC and Bristol Rovers. Plymouth Argyle and Accrington Stanley are 1st, (31 points) and 12th, (16 points), spots respectively, after 13 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Plymouth Argyle, when Niall Ennis opened the rout in the 24th minute. The first half ended 1-0.

Plymouth Argyle continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Sam Cosgrove found the net, 63 minutes in. Plymouth Argyle then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Ryan Hardie just before the final whistle to give a final score of 3-0.

Plymouth Argyle brought on Nigel Lonwijk, Adam Randell, Finn Azaz and Ryan Hardie for Bali Mumba, Matt Butcher, Morgan Whittaker and Niall Ennis. Accrington Stanley brought on Joe Pritchard and Nathan Delfouneso, to replace Shaun Whalley and Tommy Leigh.

Plymouth Argyle and Accrington Stanley played a tough match where the referee sanctioned Plymouth Argyle with yellow cards to Bali Mumba, Sam Cosgrove, Niall Ennis and Brendan Galloway and with red card to Dan Scarr, while from Accrington Stanley Ethan Hamilton, Liam Coyle and Shaun Whalley were booked and red to Seamus Conneely.

Plymouth Argyle will next play Milton Keynes Dons away, with Accrington Stanley facing Derby County at home.
