Peterborough United 2-0 Sheffield Wednesday: The Posh ease past 10-man Owls
Peterborough United eased past Sheffield Wednesday in a 2-0 victory on Tuesday at Abax Stadium. Peterborough United were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Plymouth Argyle. SWFC were coming from consecutive wins against Charlton Athletic and Milton Keynes Dons. As things stand, Peterborough United and SWFC sit 2nd, (9 points) and 8th, (7 points), spots respectively, after 4 matches.
After an uneventful first half, Peterborough United applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Jonson Clarke-Harris gave Peterborough United the lead, 65 minutes in. However they weren’t finished yet and Jack Taylor made it 2-0, 75 minutes in to make it 2-0.
Substitutions for Peterborough United included Hector Matthew Kyprianou, Ricky Jade-Jones, Joe Taylor and David Ajiboye for Ben Thompson, Harrison Burrows, Jack Marriott and Joe Ward, repectively. SWFC brought on Dominic Iorfa, Josh Windass and Sylla Sow, to replace George Byers, Michael Ihiekwe and Lee Gregory.
The referee booked Frankie Kent from Peterborough United. SWFC had the worst of it though, with Will Vaulks and Michael Ihiekwe seeing yellow, and Reece James then sent off with a red.
Peterborough United will play their next fixture at home against Lincoln City, while SWFC will face Bolton Wanderers away.
