Fleetwood Town 0-1 Shrewsbury Town : Visitors ecstatic after win at Highbury Stadium

Shrewsbury Town’s 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town on Saturday, was hard fought at Highbury Stadium. Fleetwood Town arrived with the intention of improving their league position after a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth FC. Shrewsbury Town, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Milton Keynes Dons. Fleetwood Town and Shrewsbury Town sit 15th, (16 points) and 8th, (21 points), spots respectively, after 14 matches.

Shrewsbury Town started the first half well, thanks to a goal from Tom Bayliss, 30 minutes in, ending the first half 1-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Both managers used all available substitutions. Substitutions for Fleetwood Town included Joe Garner, Daniel Batty, Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu and Cian Hayes for Paddy Lane, Carlos Mendes Gomes, Lewis Warrington and Harvey Macadam, respectively, Shrewsbury Town brought on Robert Street and Ryan Bowman, to replace Christian Saydee and Rekeil Pyke.

There were bookings for Paddy Lane, Shaun Rooney, Josh Vela and Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu from Fleetwood Town. For Shrewsbury Town, Christian Saydee, Marko Marosi, Tom Bayliss, Robert Street and Luke Leahy saw yellow.

Fleetwood Town will next play Exeter City away, with Shrewsbury Town facing Charlton Athletic at home.
