Exeter 2-2 Bristol Rovers: St James Park sees exciting draw
On Saturday, Exeter and Bristol Rovers played out a 2-2 draw at St James Park. Exeter were looking to pick up points, following a 4-0 victory against Forest Green Rovers. Bristol Rovers were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Accrington Stanley. Exeter are now in 11th place, with 15 points from 12 matches, while Bristol Rovers sit in 21st, with 9 points from 12.
After an uneventful first half, Bristol Rovers fought back the second half, when John Marquis gave them the lead, at 62 minutes. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Jevani Brown, 72 minutes in brought The Grecians level. The momentum was again with Exeter, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Sam Nombe, 81 minutes in to establish a 2-1 result. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Ryan Loft equalised for Bristol Rovers just before the final whistle. The match ended wih a 2-2 draw.
Substitutions for Exeter included Harry Smith for Jay Stansfield, respectively. Bristol Rovers brought on Sylvester Jasper and Alfie Kilgour for Luke McCormick and Aaron Collins.
