Cheltenham Town 2-0 Shrewsbury Town: Robins ease some pressure with home win

Cheltenham Town banked all three points against the Shrewsbury Town in a 2-0 victory on Saturday, at Jonny-Rocks Stadium. Cheltenham Town were looking forward to playing again after losing 1-0 to Accrington Stanley in their last match. Shrewsbury Town, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Burton Albion. Cheltenham Town are now in 17th place, with 11 points from 12 matches, while Shrewsbury Town sit in 12th, with 15 points from 12.

It was an impressive opening from Cheltenham Town, when Sean Long gave them the lead in the 45th minute. Cheltenham Town then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Alfie May just before half-time, to take a 2-0 lead into half time. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 2-0.

Substitutions for Cheltenham Town included George Lloyd and Taylor Perry for Daniel N`Lundulu and Alfie May, respectively. Shrewsbury Town brought on Rekeil Pyke, Aiden O’Brien and Julien Da Costa, to replace Ryan Bowman, Tom Flanagan and Elliott Bennett.

There were bookings for Liam Sercombe from Cheltenham Town, and Tom Flanagan, for Shrewsbury Town.

Cheltenham Town will next play Sheffield Wednesday away, with Shrewsbury Town facing Milton Keynes Dons at home.
