Cambridge 0-2 Derby: The Rams secure the points at Abbey Stadium

Derby County beated Cambridge Utd 2-0 on Saturday at Abbey Stadium. Both Cambridge and Derby arrived on the back of wins. Cambridge were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run, following a 2-1 victory against Morecambe FC. Derby, meanwhile, were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Wycombe Wanderers. Cambridge are now in 10th place, with 16 points from 12 matches, while Derby sit in 8th, with 17 points from 12.

Derby started strongly in the first half, when James Collins gave them the lead just before half-time, ending the first half 1-0.

The Rams continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when James Collins found the net once more, at 83 minutes. The match ended 2-0 to Derby.

Both managers used all substitutions. Substitutions for Cambridge included Harvey Knibbs, James Brophy and Fejiri Okenabirhie for Jack Lankester, Harrison Dunk and Shilow Tracey, respectively, Derby brought on William Osula, Craig Forsyth and Louie Sibley to replace Lewis Norman Dobbin, Tom Barkhuizen and James Collins.

The referee booked William Osula for Derby.

Cambridge will next travel to Bristol Rovers, while Derby will face Port Vale at home.
