Barnsley 0-3 Wycombe: The Tykes left reeling as The Chairboys come good

Wycombe Wanderers cruises against Barnsley on an away win at Oakwell Ground on Saturday. Barnsley were looking to pick up points, following a 3-0 victory against Bristol Rovers. Wycombe were beaten 3-1 in the previous match against Exeter City. As the table looks today, both teams are on 6 points and sit in 16th and 13th places respectively after 5 matches.

Wycombe didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, when Anis Mehmeti opened the rout in the 37th minute, finishing the first half 1-0.

The Chairboys continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Dominic Gape found the net at the 72 minute mark. Wycombe then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Nick Freeman, 83 minutes in to make it 3-0.

Barnsley brought on Matty Wolfe, James Norwood and William Hondermarck for Luca John Connell, Jack Aitchison and Callum Styles. Wycombe brought on Nick Freeman, Ali Al-Hamadi and Jason McCarthy, to replace Anis Mehmeti, Garath McCleary and David Wheeler.

There were bookings for Jordan Williams, Josh Benson and James Norwood from Barnsley, and Jordan Obita and Alfie Mawson, for Wycombe.

Barnsley will next play Ipswich Town away, with Wycombe facing Charlton Athletic at home.
