Barnsley 0-2 Exeter: The Grecians jubilant after away win against The Tykes

Exeter City strolled past Barnsley with a 2-0 win on Saturday at Oakwell Ground. Barnsley were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two matches against Fleetwood Town away and Charlton Athletic at home, by 1-0 and 3-1 respectively. Exeter, meanwhile, were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Barnsley and Exeter currently occupy 5th and 8th spots in the league, with 20 points and 18 points respectively after 13 matches.

The Grecians started the match strongly, with an early goal from Jay Stansfield in the 1st minute, ending the first half 1-0.

Exeter started the second half with an intensified spirit, with an early 2nd effort from Jay Stansfield in the 48th minute, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Barnsley included Adam Phillips, Tom Edwards, Josh Martin, Ziyad Larkeche and Luca John Connell for James Norwood, Jordan Williams, Herbie Kane, Nicky Cadden and Josh Benson, respectively. Exeter brought on Harry Smith, Sonn Cox and Kgaogelo Chauke, to replace Jay Stansfield, Jevani Brown and Sam Nombe.

The referee booked one player from Exeter, Jevani Brown.

Barnsley will next travel to Bolton Wanderers, while Exeter will face Oxford United at home.
