Real 1 – Mallorca 0: The White and Blues triumph over The Vermilions at the Reale Arena

Real Sociedad eased past Mallorca in a 1-0 victory on Wednesday at the Reale Arena. Real were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Celta Vigo away (2-1), the other to Villarreal at home (1-0) whilst Mallorca were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Seville. Real are currently 3rd with 22 points from 10 matches, while Mallorca sit in 15th, with 9 points from 10.

Real started the match strongly, with an early goal from Mikel Merino in the 4th minute to see out the first half 1-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Real included Carlos Fernandez, Martin Zubimendi, Robert Navarro, Robin Le Normand and Illarramendi for David Silva, Ander Guevara, Take, Andoni Gorosabel and Brais Mendez, respectively. Mallorca brought on Kang In Lee, Clement Grenier, Antonio Sanchez and Abdon, to replace Dani Rodriguez, Franco Russo, Rodrigo Battaglia and Angel Rodriguez.

There were bookings for Ander Guevara from Real. For Mallorca, Pablo Maffeo and Clement Grenier saw yellow.

Mallorca and Real will next play away to Valencia and Real Valladolid respectively.
