Rayo 5-1 Cádiz: Vallecano cruise past Gaditano at Estadio de Vallecas
Rayo Vallecano ease to a comfortable 5-1 win at Estadio de Vallecas. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Rayo were looking for a victory following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in their previous game. Cádiz were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Rayo and Cádiz sit 10th, (15 points) and 19th, (7 points), spots respectively, after 11 matches.
Rayo started strongly in the first half, when Isi Palazon opened the rout, at 44 minutes. vallecano then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Alvaro Garcia just before half-time to see out the first half 2-0.
Rayo once more applied the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Florian Lejeune, 63 minutes in. The momentum was again with Rayo, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Sergio Camello in the 79th minute to establish a 4-0 result. However, Cádiz refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Ivan Balliu on the 82 minute mark. In the end though, Rayo then grabbed a second effort from Florian Lejeune just before the full time, leaving a rampant Rayo with a resounding 5-1.
Substitutions for Rayo included Randy Nteka, Unai Lopez, Pep Chavarria, Salvi Sanchez and Pathe Ciss for Oscar Trejo, Óscar Valentín, Alvaro Garcia, Isi Palazon and Santi Comesana, respectively. Cádiz brought on Fali, Lucas Perez, Anthony Lozano, Antonio Blanco and Awer Mabil, to replace Alex, Alvaro Negredo, Brian Ocampo, Ruben Sobrino and Fede San Emeterio.
Rayo and Cádiz played a tough game where the referee sanctioned Rayo with yellow cards to Oscar Trejo and with red card to Randy Nteka, while from Cádiz Ruben Sobrino, Ruben Alcaraz and Lucas Perez were booked and red to Ruben Alcaraz (2 yellow cards) and Isaac Carcelén.
Rayo will next play Seville away, with Cádiz facing Atletico Madrid at home.
