Real Madrid 2-1 Real Betis: Los Blancos jubilant after Rodrygo winner
Real Madrid defeated Real Betis 2-1 on Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu. Both Madrid and Betis arrived fresh from some positive results. The blancos were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Espanyol away (3-1), the other to Celta Vigo away (4-1). Betis were hoping to continue their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Osasuna and Mallorca. RMA are now in 1st place, with 12 points from 4 matches, while Betis sit in 2nd, with 9 points from 4.
Los Blancos started strongly in the first half, when Vinicius Junior gave them the lead on the 9 minute mark. However, their lead was short-lived, as Sergio Canales equalised for Betis, 17 minutes in, concluding the first half 1-1.
RMA rallied after this and were rewarded, when Rodrygo found the net in the 65th minute so at full time it was 2-1 to RMA.
Substitutions for RMA included Federico Valverde, Dani Ceballos, Toni Kroos and Antonio Rudiger for Eduardo Camavinga, Rodrygo, Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal, respectively. Betis replaced Luiz Henrique, Willian Jose, Aitor Ruibal and Joaquin with Nabil Fekir, Andres Guardado, Youssouf Sabaly and Juanmi.
The referee booked Edgar Gonzalez for Betis.
RMA next face Mallorca while Betis are at home to Villarreal.
