Espanyol 2-3 Sevilla: Los Nervionenses seal good away win
Seville strolled past Espanyol with a 3-2 win on Saturday at Rcde Stadium. Espanyol were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning last match, while Seville were beaten 3-0 in their previous match against Barcelona. Espanyol are now in 15th place, with 4 points from 5 matches, while Seville sit in 17th, with 1 point from 5.
Los Nervionenses started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Erik Lamela in the 1st minute. Seville looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Jose Carmona, 26 minutes in to establish a 2-0. The momentum was again with Seville, who then scored again courtesy of a 2nd effort from Jose Carmona in the 45th minute to establish a 3-0 result. However, Budgerigars hit back though thanks to a Joselu goal just before half-time, concluding the first half 3-1.
Espanyol took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Martin Braithwaite, 62 minutes in. The match ended with a 3-2 win for Seville.
Substitutions for Espanyol included Dani Gomez, Ruben Sanchez Saez, Nicolas Melamed Ribaudo and Omar El Hilali for Edu Exposito, Oscar Regano, Javi Puado and Ruben Sanchez Saez, respectively. Seville brought on Alex Telles, Nianzou Tanguy Kouassi, Karim Rekik, Jesus Navas and Ivan Rakitic for Marcos Acuna, Oliver Torres, Kike Salas, Jose Carmona and Joan Jordan.
The referee booked Oscar Regano, Joselu, Vinicius Souza and Dani Gomez from Espanyol. Seville had the worst of it though, with Erik Lamela, Marcos Acuna, Fernando and Youssef En-Nesyri seeing yellow, and Erik Lamela (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.
