Espanyol 1-0 Valladolid: Budgerigars just edge past Real

Espanyol eased past Real Valladolid in a 1-0 victory on Sunday at Rcde Stadium. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Espanyol were looking for a victory after a 2-2 draw against Cádiz. Valladolid were unable to beat Real Betis in a 0-0 draw. Espanyol and Valladolid currently occupy 13th and 17th spots in the league, with 9 points and 8 points respectively after 9 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Budgerigars piled on the pressure in the second, when Joselu gave them the lead on the 78 minute mark so at full time it was 1-0 to Espanyol.

Substitutions for Espanyol included Keidi Bare, Jose Carlos Lazo and Nicolas Melamed Ribaudo for Edu Exposito, Aleix Vidal and Javi Puado, respectively. Valladolid brought on Joaquin Fernandez, Shon Weissman, Juan Jose Narvaez, Sergi Guardiola and Alvaro Aguado, to replace Zouhair Feddal, Sergio Leon, Ivan Sanchez, Kike Perez and Roque Mesa.

There were bookings for Vinicius Souza from Espanyol, and Zouhair Feddal, Sergio Escudero, Monchu and Roque Mesa, for Valladolid.

Espanyol will next play Osasuna away, with Valladolid facing Celta Vigo at home.
