Elche 1 – Mallorca 1: Estadio Martínez Valero sees frustrating draw

Elche were helde ach other to a 1-1 draw by Mallorca on Monday at Estadio Martínez Valero. Both sides arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Elche were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 2-1 to Rayo Vallecano. Mallorca had lost their previous match against Barcelona. Elche and Mallorca sit 20th, (2 points) and 12th, (9 points), spots respectively, after 8 matches.

ilicitano started the first half well, when Ezequiel Ponce found the net, 15 minutes in to see them go in at half time 1-0 up.

Mallorca took the initiative in the second half, when Vedat Muriqi found the net on the 71 minute mark, seing the match finish 1-1.

Substitutions for Elche included Lucas Boye, Pol Lirola, Nicolas Ezequiel Fernandez Mercau, Pere Milla and Domingos Quina for Ezequiel Ponce, Josan, Carlos Clerc, Helibelton Palacios and Raúl Guti, respectively. Mallorca brought on Amath Ndiaye, Clement Grenier, Angel Rodriguez, Dani Rodriguez and Rodrigo Battaglia, to replace Antonio Sanchez, Iddrisu Baba, Copete, Kang In Lee and Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta.

Elche and Mallorca played a tough game where the referee sanctioned Elche with yellow cards to Ezequiel Ponce, Gonzalo Verdu, Omar Mascarell and Pedro Bigas and with red card to Lucas Boye, while from Mallorca Clement Grenier, Raillo, Predrag Rajkovic, Giovanni Gonzalez and Rodrigo Battaglia were booked and red to Vedat Muriqi.

Elche will next play Valencia away, with Mallorca facing Seville at home.
