Elche fell to a home defeat at the hands of Getafe at Estadio Martínez Valero. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were each keen to pick up points. Elche were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Espanyol in their previous game. Getafe, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Celta Vigo.
