Freiburg 2-0 Nantes: Breisgau Brazilians topple The Yellow House
SC Freiburg strolled past Nantes with a 2-0 win on Thursday at Europa-Park-Stadion. Freiburg were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Olympiacos Piraeus away (3-0), the other to Qarabag FK at home (2-1) while Nantes were beaten 3-0 in their previous match against Qarabag FK. Freiburg are now in 1st place on the table and have 9 points while Nantes sit in 3rd with 3 points after 3 matches.
After an uneventful first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Freiburg who started the second half strongly, with an early goal from Daniel-Kofi Kyereh in the 48th minute. Breisgau Brazilians then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Vincenzo Grifo, 72 minutes in to give a final score of 2-0.
Substitutions for Freiburg included Nils Petersen, Yannik Keitel, Noah Weisshaupt, Kevin Schade and Lukas Kubler for Michael Gregoritsch, Maximilian Eggestein, Vincenzo Grifo, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Ritsu Doan, respectively. Nantes brought on Ignatius Kpene Ganago, Moussa Sissoko, Sebastien Corchia, Evann Guessand and Abdoul Kader Bamba, to replace Moses Simon, Pedro Chirivella, Dennis Appiah, Andrei and Mostafa Mohamed.
There were bookings for Kiliann Sildillia, Christian Gunter and Yannik Keitel from Freiburg. For Nantes, Mostafa Mohamed saw yellow.
Freiburg will next play Nantes away, with Nantes facing SC Freiburg at home.
