Real Betis 1-1 Roma: Roma stifled by the Green-and-Whites

On Thursday, Betis and Roma played out a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. Betis were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Roma away (2-1), the other to Razgrad Ludogorets at home (3-2). Roma had lost their previous match against Real Betis. Betis and Roma currently occupy 1st and 2nd spots in the table, with 10 points and 4 points respectively after 4 matches.

The Green-and-Whites started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Sergio Canales found the net in the 34th minute, ending the first half 1-0.

Roma fought back, when Andrea Belotti found the net, 53 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Substitutions for Betis included Luiz Henrique, Borja Iglesias, William Carvalho, Guido Rodriguez and Alex Moreno for Joaquin, Willian Jose, Andres Guardado, Sergio Canales and Juan Miranda, respectively. Roma brought on Mady Camara, Matias Vina, Edoardo Bove and Stephan El Shaarawy, to replace Nemanja Matic, Leonardo Spinazzola, Andrea Belotti and Lorenzo Pellegrini.

There were bookings for Andres Guardado, Joaquin, Juan Miranda and Rodri from Betis, and Nemanja Matic, Gianluca Mancini and Mady Camara, for Roma.

Roma and Betis will next play away to Helsinki and Razgrad Ludogorets respectively.
