Omonia 0 – Sheriff 3: Home side humiliated by travelling Gsp Stadium

Sheriff Tiraspol hammer Omonia Nicosia 3-0 on Thursday at Gsp Stadium. Today’s result, leave both teams on 0 points and sitting in 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, after their first match.

Sheriff started the match strongly, with an early goal from Rasheed Ibrahim Akanbi in the 2nd minute, ending the first half 1-0.

Sheriff started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, when Iyayi Atiemwen found the net on the 55 minute mark. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Mouhamed Diop, 76 minutes in to give a final score of 3-0.

Substitutions for Omonia included Francis Uzoho, Fotis Papoulis, Karim Ansarifard, Roman Bezus and Ioannis Kousoulos for Fabiano, Charalambos Charalambous, Moreto Cassama, Bruno and Charalambos Charalambous, respectively. Sheriff replaced Mudasiru Salifu, Pernambuco, Felipe Vizeu, Renan Guedes and Heron with Iyayi Atiemwen, Abou Ouattara, Rasheed Ibrahim Akanbi, Armel Zohouri and Patrick Kpozo.

There were bookings for Adam Lang and Roman Bezus from Omonia, and Rasheed Ibrahim Akanbi, Iyayi Atiemwen, Mudasiru Salifu and Patrick Kpozo, for Sheriff.

In the second round of action in the Europa League Group Stage Omonia will play against Real Sociedad away and Sheriff will play against Manchester United at home.
