Malmö 0 – Union Berlin 1: Visitors secure points with win at Stadion

Malmö fell to a home defeat at the hands of Union Berlin at Stadion on Thursday. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Malmö were hoping to get something from this game after losing 3-2 to Union Saint-Gilloise in their previous fixture, while Union Berlin were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Sporting Braga. Malmö and Union Berlin sit 4th, (0 points) and 3rd, (3 points), in the table respectively, after 3 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Union Berlin continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Sheraldo Becker gave them the lead in the 68th minute, seing the match finish 1-0.

Substitutions for Malmö included Ola Toivonen, Patriot Sejdiu and Moustafa Zeidan for Jo Inge Berget, Joseph Ceesay and Hugo Larsson, respectively. Union Berlin brought on Kevin Behrens, Niko Giesselmann, Genki Haraguchi and Morten Thorsby, to replace Jordan Siebatcheu, Julian Ryerson, Janik Haberer and Sheraldo Becker.

The referee booked Erdal Rakip and Felix Beijmo from Malmö. Union Berlin had the worst of it though, with Janik Haberer seeing yellow, and Andras Schafer then sent off with a red.

Malmö will play their next fixture away against Union Berlin, while Union Berlin will face Malmö at home.
