Huachipato 2-5 Unión: Pineiro brace helps Union to big win

Unión Española snatched all three points from Huachipato in a 5-2 victory on Saturday, at Estadio Cap. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Huachipato were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 1-0 to Colo Colo. Unión, on the other hand, were beaten 3-1 in the previous match against Curicó Unido. As the table looks today, Huachipato and Unión currently occupy 9th and 4th spots in the table, with 25 points and 32 points respectively after 20 matches.

Huachipato started the match well, thanks to a goal from Javier Altamirano after only 7 minutes. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Octavio Rivero producing an equaliser at the 31 minute mark, bringing Unión level. The momentum was now with Unión, who then scored again through a goal from Rodrigo Pineiro, at 36 minutes to establish a 2-1. Unión then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Leandro Garate just before halftime, concluding the first half 3-1.

Huachipato took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Juan Sanchez at the 64 minute mark. However, Unión increased their advantage 4-2 thanks to a second effort from Rodrigo Pineiro at the 81 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Manuel Fernandez made it 5-2 at the 82 minute mark with a final score of 5-2.

Huachipato brought on Walter Mazzantti, Claudio Sepulveda and Juan Cordova for Jimmy Martinez, Carlos Lobos and Joaquin Gutierrez. Unión brought on Leandro Garate, Luis Antonio Pavez and Mario Larenas, to replace Octavio Rivero, Gonzalo Espinoza and Rodrigo Pineiro.

There were bookings for Joaquin Gutierrez, Carlos Lobos and Maxi Rodriguez from Huachipato. For Unión, Manuel Fernandez saw yellow.

Unión and Huachipato will next play at home to Univ de Chile and Unión La Calera respectively.
