Huachipato 1-2 O’Higgins: Visitors hold on to claim narrow road success

O’Higgins snatched all three points from Huachipato in a 2-1 victory on Monday, at Estadio Cap. Huachipato arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Audax Italiano. O’Higgins had lost their previous match against Palestino. At the moment, Huachipato are in 8th place in the table and have 25 points while O’Higgins sit in 11th with 21 points after 18 matches.

O’Higgins scored first, when Facundo Barcelo found the net, at 36 minutes to take them into the break 1-0 up.

O’Higgins staged a comeback in the second half, with an early goal from Matias Marin in the 50th minute. Huachipato in turn, then responded at the 70 minute mark increasing their lead with an effort from Maxi Rodriguez, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Huachipato included Maxi Rodriguez, Javier Altamirano, Joaquin Gutierrez, Bastian Roco and Juan Sanchez for Nicolas Baeza, Carlos Lobos, Juan Cordova, Antonio Castillo and Luciano Nequecaur, repectively. O’Higgins brought on Juan Fuentes, Diego Carrasco, Facundo Castro, Fabian Hormazabal and Camilo Moya, to replace Facundo Barcelo, Antonio Diaz, Matias Donoso, Cristobal Castillo and Diego Fernandez.

There were bookings for Benjamin Gazzolo, Nicolas Baeza, Gonzalo Montes and Marcelo Canete from Huachipato, and Matias Marin and Facundo Castro, for O’Higgins.

Huachipato will play away against Colo Colo, while O’Higgins will face Univ de Chile at home.
