Everton 3-3 Cobresal: Thrilling draw at Sausalito
Everton were helde ach other to a 3-3 draw by Cobresal on Monday at Sausalito. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Everton were looking to pick up points, following a 4-1 victory against Palestino. Cobresal, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-0 victory against Unión Española. Everton and Cobresal currently occupy 8th and 6th spots in the league, with 37 points and 38 points respectively after 27 matches.
The first half of the match started well for Everton, when Sebastian Sosa gave them the lead in the 27th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Gaston Lezcano equalised for Cobresal just before half-time, which brought Gustavo Huerta Araya’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break
Everton took the initiative in the second half, when Bryan Carvallo found the net, 70 minutes in. Everton looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Rodrigo Echeverria after 73 minutes to establish a 3-1. However, Cobresal refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Cristopher Mesias on the 83 minute mark. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a 2nd effort from Gaston Lezcano just before the final whistle to make it 3-3.
Substitutions for Everton included Lautaro Pastran, John Michael Salas Torres, Victor Sosa, Fernando Antonio Saavedra and Matias Campos for Adrian Sanchez, Alex Ibacache, Pedro Sanchez, Sebastian Sosa and Bryan Carvallo, respectively. Cobresal brought on Sebastian Silva, Cristopher Mesias and Pablo Cardenas, to replace Ivan Villalba, Cesar Munder and Gaston Lezcano.
The referee booked Bryan Carvallo and Fernando Antonio Saavedra from Everton. Cobresal had the worst of it though, with Cesar Munder, Ivan Villalba and Nelson Sepulveda seeing yellow, and Alejandro Camargo then sent off with a red.
Cobresal and Everton will next play away to O’Higgins and Univ de Chile respectively.
